It sold surprisingly well, given its severe departure from the original Wii it lacks GameCube, online, SD Card, and Wi-Fi functionality, so it can only play retail Wii discs. The "Wii Mini" was released in early to late 2013 in all territories but Japan and Oceania. It looks and functions identically to a normal Wii minus GameCube compatibility. The "Wii Family Edition", released in late 2011 in all territories but Japan. Two budget variants of the Wii hardware were released. By December 8, 2006, it had completed its launch in four key markets. At E3 2006, the console won the first of several awards. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show. Nintendo first spoke of the console at the 2004 E3 press conference and later unveiled the system at the 2005 E3. The Wii is Nintendo's fifth home console and the direct successor of the Nintendo GameCube, being fully backwardly compatible with all GameCube games and most accessories. Another distinctive feature of the console is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of the two others.Ī distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detects movement in three dimensions. As a seventh-generation console, the Wii primarily competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3. The Wii (ウィー Wī, pronounced /ˈwiː/) is a home video game console released by Nintendo on November 19, 2006. I get a pc and build a semi decent rig enough to run the shooters I want in Mame, but then how do I connect it to a tv? Ive always had the vga cables which connect to a pc monitor, is it as simple as an hdmi cable, a power cable and that's it? or am I missing something?Īlso, does anyone know of a place where I can download a big file of say emulators/roms so that i don't have to individually go and search for them?

So I am going to get a 32" tv and get a cheap mame set up to run it from.Īt present I was thinking of having a basic set up until I can get a good idea about things, does this sound feasible?. Looks amazing, especially compared to the ps1 version of the game, crisp graphics and great sound. I did end up playing around a bit with a mame emulator and ended up getting time crisis to work on it. Also, ozstick, do you happen to have the longer infra red receiver that I have read about? or just the stock one?

I looked at that link which rotamonkey gave me and got in touch with the guy who is adding in recoil to those namco guns, however dont think its really viable with the standard aimtrak gun is it? If not, hopefully one day an update comes out and they add recoil to these guns.

I think I have come to the conclusion that I will get an aimtrak gun (ozstick is there a discount for AA members? :):)) after reading and hearing better reviews than the topgun. Thanks for the responses, some good food for thought has been provided.

Which light gun do you find better? I have noticed the two main market guns are the Aimtrak (looks just like ps1 time crisis gun and is very simple) or the EMS topgun 3 (has the sweet recoil as well as the red dot, however I have heard its made like shit and people have had issues with it) Could I get some opinions on these 2 guns and which to go for?įinally, if anyone is able to give me suggestions about running a mame (my first time doing this) or perhaps someone who has done this can give me some pointers that would be great!Ĭheers and look forward to hearing your response.

The setup itself, should I go for a mame build and hook it up to a 32/42" screen and have all the games running through emulators? or should I go for the ps2 route and just get dedicated games on there and buy a light gun for lcd's? I have done some research into it and it there are some questions I would love help for to get me on the right track. I have recently decided to look into building a set up to play old school light gun games (mainly tc, point blank and virtua cop) after failing to land a dedicated machine for one of these games.
